COMING IN AUTUMN:

THE BURIED MOON (Dates TBC)

What can a fairy tale tell us about the past. This Halloween, Dan will be exploring the story of The Buried Moon, sometimes known by its alternative title, The Dead Moon. This strange tale tells of the moon descending from the sky in the form of  a woman, to illuminate the fenland and protect the local people from the horrors lurking in the darkness. As well as retelling the story, Dan will also be exploring the origins of a tale which some have claimed as evidence of pre-Christian moon worship, whilst others have questioned its veracity. Is it really an ancient tale or, rather, a Victorian invention?

THE MISTLETOE BOUGH
& OTHER CHILLING CHRISTMAS TALES

The chilling tale which forms the song’s narrative has versions found across the globe, but is reputed to originate in in true events which occurred in seventeenth century Somerset. Join us for an evening of stories and music, as we retell the story of the Mistletoe Bough, and its origins, along with other West-Country ghost stories.
